Challenge

Based in Manly Vale on Sydney’s Northern Beaches and with micro-roasteries throughout Australia, Seven Miles Coffee is on a journey to redefine the next chapter in the evolution of coffee – where art meets science and exceptional coffee is given its rightful moment to shine. Creating exceptional roasted coffee through best-in-class sourcing as well as incorporating top-of-the-line roasting technology 7M Coffee takes up a unique space in the coffee play in Australia. 7M Coffee also continuously innovates around new areas such as Coffee Science and Research and strives to create the highest standard for bespoke roasted coffee. Seven Miles Coffee did not have a proper methodology to extract data through the Oracle-based NetSuite ERP system that was implemented across the organization. Instead, the organization was extracting raw data in excel format to help in their decision-making process.

They wanted to obtain a customized view on how they wanted to see specific sets of data as well as being able to drill down into granular levels of detail where they would analyze their data more thoroughly.

Seven Miles’ Sales operation was structured as such that they would act as a bulk grinder/processor of high-quality raw coffee. Hence their sales teams consisted of multiple focus-based orientations on customer type and size. However, the organization found it challenging to keep track of budget vs actual sales and how targets were maintained across these multiple teams. Not only were they unable to efficiently and effectively extract the data but they failed to meaningfully visualize it.

POTENZA was integral in creating a dedicated Sales Data Warehouse where logical structuring of sales-related data (actual vs budget data) was effectively done. In addition, bringing these sets of data on top of matured platforms increased the sheer speed of data extraction significantly.

Model Citizen contributed by utilizing the data present in the newly constructed sales data warehouse and visualizing it through Microsoft’s Power Bi Dashboards to provide deep drilled down insights to the relevant business users

Impact

Through this innovation, in decisioning insights, we were able to provide sales-related insights to the organization. For example, they were able to clearly see and seamlessly monitor simple KPI’s such as how many Kilos of coffee each team is selling vs how much each sales department should be selling in accordance with the ratio defined by Seven Miles Coffee.

Now the team is looking at the next phase of Data optimization and visualization by focusing on manufacturing and inventory-based data sets as well as looking at creating warehouses specific to them. Certain aspects of financial data would be touched upon in phase 2 as well.

Let’s begin your transformation.
